Food flavor
Food flavoring is a type of compound flavor additive used to enhance the palatability of food. Often referred to as "flavor" (or "flavour" in British English), the term originally encompasses the overall sensory experience of eating—including smell, taste, mouthfeel, temperature, and even tactile sensations. In this context, "flavor" refers not only to the taste itself but also to the substances that create this multi-sensory experience. Food flavorings are sometimes specifically called "sweet flavors" to distinguish them from "savory flavors," which are typically used in cooking and seasoning.
